Traffic Advisory for Jammu & Kashmir Highways

Srinagar, January 28(KV): The Traffic Police Headquarters of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a warning to commuters about the restrictions that govern traffic on main highways in the state.

In the event that the weather is favorable and the road conditions are favorable, the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road will begin to permit traffic in only one direction beginning on January 30, 2024.

It is recommended that passengers and operators of large motor vehicles (LMVs) travel on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW) during the daytime and steer clear of traveling between Ramban and Banihal at night due to the existence of the possibility of encountering shooting stones.

On the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, it is advised that owners of heavy-duty vehicles (HMVs) do not overload their cars and carry an adequate amount of gasoline. Also, before embarking on the voyage, owners of vehicles should make sure that their vehicles are in good condition and that they have sufficient gasoline.

On the Dhar road, only heavy-duty vehicles (HMVs) with six and ten tyres would be allowed to operate.

LMVs and HMVs will be permitted to travel from both sides of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway beginning on January 29, 2024, provided that the weather is favorable and the road conditions are favorable. It is strongly recommended that commuters adhere to lane discipline.

If the weather is favorable, vehicles belonging to the Security Forces will also be permitted to go from both sides of the National Highway.

As a result of recent snowfall, the road that connects Srinagar, Sonamarg, and Gumri is temporarily closed. Additionally, the Mughal road continues to be obstructed as a result of snow accumulation.

Before beginning a journey on the National Highway System (NHW), individuals are strongly encouraged to check with Traffic Control Units if the roads are in good condition.
