Srinagar DC Inspects Progress on Key Flyover Projects, Sets Deadlines for Completion

SRINAGAR, January 19(KV): The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, today conducted an inspection tour of various flyover construction projects across the city to review progress and set deadlines for timely completion.

The DC first visited the construction site of the flyover at the busy Bemina Junction, being built by the Public Works Department (PWD) at a cost of Rs 31.49 crore. He was informed that over 90% of the work has been completed so far, with Rs 25 crore spent out of the allocated budget. The approach road from Parimpora is in its final stages. The DC directed the PWD to accelerate work and ensure the flyover is commissioned by the set deadline of April 2024.

Dr. Bhat then inspected the Rs 29.52 crore flyover at Sanat Nagar Chowk, where around 35% of the construction has been finished with Rs 6.25 crore utilized. For the 0.85 km flyover at Nowgam Chowk costing Rs 39 crore, the DC was briefed that 80% of the work is done and the remaining is progressing swiftly.

Emphasizing the need to speed up work, the DC instructed the concerned departments to employ additional manpower and machinery to guarantee timely completion of all the flyover projects. He expressed hope that after commissioning, these flyovers will significantly improve traffic flow in the city.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bhat directed the agencies to maintain smooth traffic flow on service roads around the construction sites so that commuters, especially patients in ambulances, do not face hardship.

The inspection tour was undertaken by the DC along with senior officials including the Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, SDM West, Executive Engineer, Tehsildar and others.–(Kashmir Visuals)
