Important Notice: This news release aims to inform the public about the closure of the Jammu-Srinagar Highway (NH-44) tomorrow, February 6, 2024, and provide alternative routes and travel advisories.

Current Situation:

  • The Jammu-Srinagar Highway was blocked for two hours and forty minutes yesterday, February 4th, between 5 PM and 7:40 PM due to road maintenance at Dalwas.
  • Traffic on NH-44 was slow due to vehicle breakdowns, poor road conditions, and single-lane traffic at specific locations.

  • Due to road widening work at Kishtwari Pather and Dalwas, the Jammu-Srinagar Highway (NH-44) will be closed between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel from Tuesday, February 6, 2024, 8:00 AM to Wednesday, February 7, 2024, 8:00 AM.
  • Travelers are strongly advised to avoid traveling on this section of the highway during this period.

Alternative Routes:

  • Currently, no viable alternative routes are available due to snow accumulation on other connecting roads.

  • Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road, Mughal Road, Bhaderwah-Chamba road, and Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH244 are also closed due to snow.
