Jammu Srinagar National Highway Traffic Advisory: January 2 2024

TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

1. From December 31, 2023 at 5 PM to January 1, 2024 at 5 PM, slow movement was observed on NH-44 due to breakdown of 6 heavy motor vehicles and poor road conditions at Dalwas, single lane traffic at Cafeteria-Mehad, Magerkote, Nachlana and Hingani between Nashri and NAVYUG Tunnel.

2. Passengers/LMV operators are advised to prefer traveling on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway during daytime. Please avoid journey during night hours due to risk of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.

3. HMV Owners/Operators are requested to avoid overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journeys on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Vehicle owners must double check vehicle fitness and carry enough fuel before traveling on the highway.

4. Only HMVs with 6 and 10 tyres will be allowed to ply through Dhar road.

TRAFFIC PLAN & ADVISORY FOR JANUARY 2, 2024:-

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, LMVs, passenger vehicles, private cars, HMVs and load carriers will be allowed from both sides on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) towards Jammu and Srinagar. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline.

SF CONVOY MOVEMENT:

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, SF vehicles will be allowed from both sides on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) towards Jammu and Srinagar.

SONMARG-GUMARI ROAD:
Vehicular movement will be allowed on the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road from both sides, from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa, subject to fair weather and good road conditions. LMVs followed by HMVs will be allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 8:30 AM to 11 AM. Similarly, LMVs followed by HMVs will be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil between 12:30 PM to 3:30 PM. No vehicles shall be allowed after the cut-off timings.

SF Convoy from Srinagar to Kargil will leave at 8 AM. SF Convoy from Drass to Srinagar should plan their movement so civil traffic is not disturbed.

MUGHAL ROAD:

Subject to fair weather and road conditions, vehicles will be allowed on the Mughal Road from both sides – Poonch towards Shopian and vice-versa. Vehicles shall be allowed from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) between 10 AM to 3 PM after green signal from road authorities.
