Jammu DM Reviews Digitisation of Jamabandis

Jammu (Jan 21, 2024): District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya reviewed the status of digitisation of Jamabandis, the textual records of land ownership, at a meeting with officers of the Revenue Department held in Jammu today.

The meeting focused on the procedure being followed for finalizing, freezing and digitizing the Jamabandis of all the villages in the district. The meeting was informed that updated Jamabandis of all the villages would be made public in a phased manner starting January 23.

The DM encouraged the officers to widely publicize the digitized Jamabandis and the benefits they would bring to citizens. It was informed that a total of 908 Jamabandis have been digitized with thorough quality checks.

The DM appreciated the efforts of the revenue officers in completing the task. He directed the Tehsildars to conduct field visits, exercise their Magisterial powers optimally and resolve public grievances timely.

Instructions were also given to the Rural Development Department regarding implementing MGNREGA. All concerned officers were directed to meet the target of man days under the scheme and ensure timely payment of wages.

The meeting was attended by ADCs Ansuya Jamwal and Shishir Gupta, ACR Piyush Dhotra, ACD Preeti Sharma, SDMs, Tehsildars and other concerned revenue department officers.
