Court Orders J&K Education Officials to Follow Earlier Directive on School Recognition

School tagging issue: Contempt of Court notice issued to J&KBOSE for non compliance

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir High Court today directed the education authorities to comply with its earlier order to provisionally recognize a school and release registration forms for its students.

Hearing a contempt petition filed by M.D. Hajini Memorial Public School, Justice Rahul Bharti recalled the court’s November 18 directive to officials to grant affiliation to the school and provide registration return forms for its students.

The school had moved the contempt plea stating that the officials failed to act on the court’s direction.

After hearing the school’s counsel, Justice Bharti issued notice to the concerned officials asking them to explain why they did not follow the November order. The court also sounded a word of caution to the officials to consider the compliance seriously given the future of the students is at stake.

The matter will be heard again on February 28 along with 10 other related contempt petitions filed against the education authorities.
